Recently, our Co-Director, Claire sat down with chronic pain recoveree, Jean Itier to discuss his remarkable healing journey.
In the interview, Jean describes:
how his chronic pain developed - and the impact of symptoms on his life
how he initially responded to symptoms with approaches that ultimately didn't support healing
his initial reaction to the neuroplastic / mind-body approach to recovery when he first discovered this
how he eventually made the connection between his pain and his brain and emotions - and how getting in touch with and processing his emotions greatly assisted his recovery
the specific techniques and therapies he used to heal including Pain Reprocessing Therapy, Internal Family Systems and Hypnotherapy
how his relationship with his pain changed as he implemented his neuroscience learning - and and how putting this science into practice is different to researching it
how and why the mind-body recovery journey can look different for each person
the latter part of his recovery, including dealing with flare-ups and worries about symptoms returning
key lessons learnt about mind-body recovery to share with others including the importance of allowing (emotions, sensations, thoughts) as resistance can be counterproductive for healing
uplifting messages of hope and resilience for others who are healing mind-body symptoms
If you'd like to connect with Jean, who is now helping others to recover as a chronic pain therapist, you can reach out via Instagram or his website.
